THE X FACTOR

Remote work actually works

0%

of employers say the shift to remote work has been successful, up from 73% in June 20201.

0%

of executives surveyed feel that average employee productivity during remote work has improved, up 8% since June 20202.

As a result, organizations have a unique opportunity to recalibrate their workforces and supporting workplaces to drive productivity and efficiency.

In addition to driving productivity, remote working also seems to be positively impacting employee experience and satisfaction. Our 2020-2021 Avison Young data reveals that:

0%

of survey respondents felt that their home environment enables them to work productively

0%

of survey respondents said that they work effectively with managers and colleagues from their home office

0%

of survey respondents felt that they were able to maintain a healthy work-life balance while working from home

Other recent surveys indicate that only 15% if employees state they will return to the office fulltime3. 85% want to have some form of flexible work schedule4. Another 26% of employees say they’ll take a pay cut to work at an organization that offers flexible work arrangements. What does it all mean? Employees seem to want more flexibility, even if it means a lateral move or decrease in pay.

Clearly the paradigm is shifting post Covid-19, and offering a flexible workplace ecosystem can be a key success factor for employee recruitment and retainment.
