OUR RECENT WORK
Residential development in England
Hitachi Energy Limited – outline foul and surface water drainage strategy for 114 home scheme
Planning application for 114 homes on a 4 hectare residential scheme in an urban setting with complex drainage constraints.
Avison Young produced an outline foul and surface water drainage strategy for this site and liaised closely with the Lead Local Flood Authority to meet their strict requirements for the proposed development, thereby achieving approval for the drainage design.
Extensive leisure scheme in England
Butlin’s Skyline Limited – foul and surface water drainage strategy for 138 holiday lodge development
Planning application for 138 holiday lodges forming an extension to this existing holiday site in Skegness, with extensive sustainable surface water drainage features incorporated into the design.
The application was supported by a complex outline foul and surface water drainage strategy, with drawings produced in AutoCAD and the drainage designed using InfoDrainage software.
Leisure scheme in Scotland
Parkdean Holiday Park Limited – detailed drainage design for 21 holiday lodge development
Discharge of drainage conditions for a detailed planning application for a holiday scheme with 21 static caravans in the Highlands.

Planning application for a light industrial unit on a 0.7hectare site, incorporating a number of sustainable drainage features that enabled the site to obtain a BREEAM Excellent rating.
The application was supported by a detailed foul and surface water drainage strategy, with drawings produced in AutoCAD and the drainage designed using InfoDrainage software. In addition a BREEAM application was completed to support the BREEAM assessment for the proposed site. The site’s drainage design was recently approved by the Lead Local Flood Authority following close liaison with Birmingham City Council’s Projects Leader.
Science and enterprise park
Loughborough University – outline drainage design for masterplanning
Avison Young created detailed constraints plans and guidance to the urban planners producing the masterplan for this proposed 71.5 hectare science and enterprise park site.
Our work to date has consisted of high level surface water attenuation calculations; assessment of overland flow routes; assessment of points of outfall; and assessment of flood modelling mapping (provided by our Flood Risk Consultancy team), to produce a proposed SuDS attenuation features plan. Drawings have been produced using AutoCAD and the drainage assessment has used InfoDrainage software.
Drainage investigation
Industrial / residential site – drainage investigation
In depth investigations and review of a complex existing combined foul and surface water drainage system that serves both an industrial site and a series of residential properties.
Our report was produced to contribute towards a sales pack of information for the industrial site alone, determining how drainage to the residential properties could be maintained while the industrial site ceased to operate.
Trade effluent compliance
Portfolio of 15 national auto repair sites – drainage investigations
Investigations at a portfolio of sites located across the UK to determine the status of existing car wash bay drainage connections.
Avison Young produced drainage remedial designs to ensure each site identified as misconnected, could comply with trade effluent requirements.
Trade effluent consents have subsequently been obtained for each site as drainage remedial works have been completed. Individual AutoCAD drawings and scope of works documents were produced for each site for tender purposes.
