Vice President, Tenant Representation
Meet Nadira Akbari
What is your role at Avison Young?
Vice President, Tenant Representation.
How did you get into commercial real estate?
Started in residential real estate and moved into corporate real estate where I was helping manage a large portfolio for a Fortune 500 company. Then I came onto the brokerage side again and co-founded a boutique women-owned brokerage firm, then moved over to Avison Young, where I've been almost 4 years.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
My brother got me into real estate out of college and trained me in my early days to be hard working and dedicated. To never give up and stay focused on the end goal. We were refugees in this country and had a lot of hardships growing up and not having enough money. He always believed in me without a doubt and invested his time and energy to help me grow.
What is the best advice you've ever received?
Find beauty in the small things in life. You don't have to accomplish or achieve a lot to feel life's blessings. You can find it in the everyday small stuff.
How has Avison Young supported you as a woman in business?
I have felt so empowered to be my own person with how I run my own business. To take risks and still have the support of my AY family means the world to me. I couldn't have asked for a better company and people to be surrounded by.
