Meet Lisa Amidon

What is your role at Avison Young?

Client Services Coordinator for the Capital Markets Group.

How did you get into commercial real estate?

I transitioned from the nonprofit sector to commercial real estate in 2005 when I assumed the role of Research Analyst for the Investment Properties Institutional Group within the CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) Denver office.

Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?

While at CBRE, I worked for the Investment Properties Institutional Group comprised of Mary Sullivan, Tim Swan and Ron Urgitus. Not only was Mary Sullivan one of the top commercial real estate brokers in Denver’s history, she was an exemplary and visionary woman with a tenacity of purpose and outstanding leadership qualities. Working for her was a lifetime experience for which I have great appreciation.

What is the best advice you've ever received?

You have to keep up with the times! My grandmother insisted that you actively need to keep learning. That seeking new experiences and points of view as well as keeping your skill set sharp will open doors to opportunities and the potential for greater economic well-being. Living well into her 90s, she insisted on learning and adapting to new technology and—for fun—traded with financial success in the commodities market.
