Meet Jessica Dove

What is your role at Avison Young?

Marketing Manager - I'm responsible for driving all marketing efforts out of our Atlanta office, including managing an 8-person marketing department. In addition to providing training and process structure to our marketing team, I am involved in business development opportunities, property brand development for our agency leasing teams, and all local digital, social media and PR efforts.

How did you get into commercial real estate?

Entirely by accident. I was in my last semester of school for Fashion Management and Merchandising in Chicago and needed an internship for school credit. I was offered an internship in graphic design and marketing at a small CRE company nearby my campus. I wrapped up my internship, graduated from school and started working in the fashion industry for a wholesale handbag company and realized how much I disliked the industry. I moved back home to the Washington, DC area, where a recruiter placed me in my first commercial real estate position on the property management side and I loved it. From there I moved into more of a marketing coordinator role where I eventually grew into where I am now with Avison Young.

Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?

My mom and dad. They both immigrated to the US in their teens, worked hard with very little and created every opportunity for our family that I was lucky enough to benefit from. They are a constant reminder that opportunities aren't just handed to you, that you have to put in the work and sometimes sacrifice in order to be successful.

What is the best advice you've ever received?

To never stop learning - especially in a marketing role, where we are in a constant state of change. The best advice has been to know that learning and education does not stop once you graduate school, or get the dream job. To stay competitive at what you do, you are expected to continue learning and growing to stay ahead of whatever current technologies and best practices we have access to.

How has Avison Young supported you as a woman in business?

They have always been instrumental in recognizing my strengths and creating a growth path for me. I feel like everyday with Avison Young I am developing my talents and continually learning from the most talented group of marketing professionals in our company.
