Erin Scully

Senior Graphic Designer Chicago, Illinois

Meet Erin Scully

What is your role at Avison Young?

I work on our Chicago marketing team as a Senior Graphic Designer. I collaborate with different teams in our office to provide project-branded and coordinated marketing campaigns, promotional materials, advertising and business development presentations.

How did you get into commercial real estate?

I joined Avison Young in 2016 with no experience in commercial real estate. I had been working at a tech company in Chicago and in exploring different opportunities was introduced to Danny Nikitas and Andrew Fredricks through a friend. I was immediately interested in the collaborative culture that commercial real estate, and specifically Avison Young, provided. Commercial real estate is a complicated business with deep expertise necessary in many disciplines. It’s a great learning experience to be in the middle and see all the moving pieces.

Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?

My parents have a big influence on my life. My dad in particular is someone I’ve frequently consulted for career advice. He’s taught me the importance of dedication and commitment, to stand by your work and to be curious in all aspects of life.

What is the best advice you've ever received?

Simply put: say yes. Growth isn't achieved in a vacuum. I try to keep myself open to new experiences, opportunities and ideas. You never know what a discussion, meeting or event will lead to. I had never considered commercial real estate before an informational meeting with Avison Young and now I'm in an industry where I want learn something new every day and see what impact design and marketing can play.
