What is your role at Avison Young?

General Manager - Team Leader for our Orlando Portfolio.

How did you get into commercial real estate?

20 years ago, I began my career as a receptionist for a commercial real estate company. I eventually started working on the Property Management side and liked it so much, I decided to make it my career. There is never a dull moment in property management. It keeps you engaged on a daily basis. It is never boring. It also opens so many doors to new connections on both a personal and a professional level.

Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?

The biggest influence in my life has been my husband. 26 years ago, he legally entered the United States with $40.00 in his pocket. He now runs a successful construction company and is as humble as he was 26 years ago. His drive and determination to have his "American Dream" keep me engaged and pushes me to continue in my career, not just for me, but for our family as well.

What is the best advice you've ever received?

“Self-confidence is the most important characteristic of successful people.”

How has Avison Young supported you as a woman in business?

Avison Young has been one of the best companies I have worked with. AY has given me such a great opportunity and has been very supportive in my leadership role for my portfolio.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I am 100% Hispanic but do not look like it. I am bilingual in English and Spanish with my first language being Spanish. I learned to speak English when I was 8-9 years old.
