Garden Communities
Garden Communities can deliver places of both quality and scale and will play a role in accelerating the recovery of the housing market. If done well, a Garden Community is a place to live in and work and enjoy, while providing tangible benefits, such as local and infrastructure improvements to the wider area.
Driving housing delivery
In our webinar exploring the role in which Garden Communities may play in accelerating the recovery of the housing market, we aim to answer the following questions:
- Is the provision of housing the prime consideration for Garden Communities?
- What elements make a successful Garden Village?
- What trends are emerging as a result of the current climate?
- How can we protect quality while delivering financially viable schemes?
- What role does community support play in housing delivery?
- What are some key considerations to ensure successful delivery of housing and other elements?
We were joined by an expert panel, including Lord Matthew Taylor of Goss Moor, as well as specialists from Avison Young, Pinsent Masons, Allies and Morrison and Cheltenham Borough Council.
Building long term quality
In our second webinar, our panel shared critical thinking across both the public and private sector in order to explore the role that all parties can play in ensuring the delivery of high quality and sustainable places which are built for the benefit of both current and future generations. We aim to answer the following questions:
- How can commercial components and community infrastructure be delivered well?
- How do you design for and invite activity that is sustainable and drives long-term value?
- What are the mechanisms that need to be in place for ongoing stewardship and management of Garden Communities?
- What are some of the longer-term design implications from Covid-19 for Garden Communities?
- What are some key considerations in getting the above elements of Garden Communities right?
We were joined by an expert panel, with specialists from Avison Young, Pinsent Masons, Allies and Morrison, The Land Trust, Urban and Civic plc and CRATE Places UK.
Shaping communities
Our partnership
Our work with Garden Communities
In this short video Kim Grieveson, Director in the Development Consultancy team at Avison Young, explains how we help clients to deliver high quality and sustainable places across the UK. A particular focus across our business is the delivery of Garden Communities.
It's interesting that Garden Communities are currently at the top of political and housing agendas, 100 years on from the establishment of Welwyn Garden City.
Working closely with Pinsent Masons and Allies and Morrison, we have hosted a series of online and offline events exploring different areas of our work with Garden Communities and will continue to do so. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to discuss in more detail by emailing Kim here.
