OUR RECENT WORK
Phase 1 – acquisition
Marina portfolio
We were asked to identify potential environmental liabilities associated with ownership and operation of a portfolio of marinas for acquisition purposes along with any risks to future resale. The project required consideration of legislative obligations, environmental permits and consents, environmental stewardship and management of operational risks, historical contamination and potential constraints impacting the on-going use of the marinas. This allowed our client to make an informed decision and proceed with the purchase.
Phase 1 – disposal
Disposal of retail park portfolio, nationwide
We were instructed to provide individual phase 1 reports to support the disposal of a UK retail shopping park portfolio by our client.
We advised prospective purchasers/funders on the existence of any environmental issues which would have the potential to affect value, continued use or would lead to regulatory intervention.
Our detailed assessments led to a low risk profile for each of the properties which, subsequently, led the vendor to complete their transaction without delay and prevented any reduction in the sale price.
Phase 1 – supporting planning
Holiday park, Withernsea
To support the proposed phased development of a holiday park, we prepared a Phase 1 environment assessment to identify the potential risks to human health and the environment. A historic landfill and potentially infilled ponds were identified on site.
We designed, procured and project managed the Phase 2 ground investigation works to cover each of the development phases to minimise costs. The ground investigation was completed on time and within budget and confirmed the landfill did not present a risk to future occupants. Our involvement led to the contaminated land planning conditions being successfully discharged.
Environmental permit application – automotive
Confidential client, North West
A major automotive body shop and repair business appointed us to apply for an environmental permit under the Local Authority Pollution Prevention and Control regime (Part B) for two vehicle spraying operations in the North West.
We were tasked with making the permit applications, submitting supporting technical documentation and liaising with the local authority. We were successful in obtaining the requisite permissions for both installations.
