What is your role at Avison Young?

Principal and Sales Representative.

How did you get into commercial real estate?

I started as a summer intern at CBRE during university.

Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?

My first Managing Director. He believed in my ability to do sales when there were no other women in that position at the office. He took the time to mentor me and help teach me the ropes.

What is the best advice you've ever received?

Two things:

1) Regarding cold calling - you can’t hit a home run if you aren’t at the plate swinging.

2) Don’t compare yourself to others. Ever.

How has Avison Young supported you as a woman in business?

My Managing Directors at AY have been incredibly supportive of the women’s group I co-founded (CRE8), as well as encouraging me to go after higher learning designations (SIOR).

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I come from a Buffalo farm and prefer cowboy boots over heels.
